Subodh Markandeya (सुबोध मार्कण्डेय) is a senior Indian lawyer, author〔 and judicial activist.〔〔〔 He primarily practices at the Supreme Court of India, but also appears in various High Courts. He has served as the standing counsel for Government of India, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), State of Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh Financial Corporation (UPFC), Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Board (U.P.S.E.B.), Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and numerous Developmental Authorities. Subodh Markandeya is the third of seven surviving children of Vidya, a home maker and Ram Prasad Markandeya, an industrial chemist. He spent his early childhood in an industrial complex near Sri Lingampally, from Hyderabad, now part of Telangana State. When Markandeya was three years old, his father moved to Jamnagar (the former Princely State of Nawanagar).
